“Every day is a fresh start, a new beginning, a blank slate.” — Kathleen Frati
Don’t you just love mornings?
Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don’t. Regardless, how I wake up can sometimes make or break my day.
Here’s some ideas that might inspire you to improve your morning wake-up experience:
1. Find a good alarm clock. Does a buzzing or ringing sound appeal to you, or does the sound of a radio work better? Would you like to be awakened by the sound of a river running or windchimes?
2. Stretch like a cat. Before getting out of bed, I like to stretch my body—like a cat stretches after a nap on the couch. Stretching gets the lymph system moving and stimulates your immune system.
3. Drink something warm. I have a coffee maker in my bedroom for a morning ritual in bed. The smell of the coffee stimulates my senses and sets my mood. If you don’t drink coffee (which often I don’t), fill up a thermos of herbal tea or lemon water before you go to sleep and set it next to your bed. I will sit in bed drinking the warm drink with my gratitude journal or an inspirational book for 10 minutes or so.
4. After rising, immediately make you bed. Making the bed minimizes the dust that accumulates on the sheets and pillows during the day, resulting in healthier sleeping. If dust bothers you, having an air filter in your bedroom is also a good idea.
Do any of these ideas make sense to you? Do you have any others that you’d like to share with the grownUPgirl community?
