“Once you get a spice in your home, you have it forever. Women never throw out spices. The Egyptians were buried with their spices. I know which one I’m taking with me when I go.” – Erma Bombeck
Hopefully you have taken the time to contemplate about the greatness and simplicity of eggs in my post How to Cook an Egg (Part 1), and also tried preparing one for yourself using my guided lesson, A Simple Fried Egg.
It’s now time to think about dressing up your egg with some delicious seasonings.
- Find your spices. Let’s start by looking around your house for the following items:
Salt & Pepper
Herbs & Spices (find out how to make your own spice mix here)
- Layer them on. I like to think of cooking a flavorful egg dish as a layered approach.
Layer One: Try add onions or garlic to your eggs, you will first need to saute them. (ADD POST) You can add the uncooked egg directly on top of them, or spoon them on top after the egg is cooked.
Layer Two: The next layer would be sprinkling some of your spice mix or fresh herbs on the egg as it cooks.
Layer Three: A delicous salsa, guacamole, or hollandaise sauce adds even more flavor and texture to the egg.
- Enjoy! Did you even know you could make such a delicious egg?
